We realize our mission to Democratize Real Estate may seem a bit lofty, and challenging the legacy revenue model of the residential real estate brokerage institution is certain to ruffle more than a few feathers. [It’s not lost on us that the National Association of Realtors is the second largest lobbying group in the country]. But we can’t think of a more worthwhile mission than to help make dream homes come true and stimulate local economies along the way. We say, go big or go home.
In order to succeed, one thing is clear. We must be 100% customer value-driven and excellent in everything we do, including: who we hire, how we interact with customers, where we locate our offices, and what pricing strategies we implement. We started Houwzer from the perspective of customers who experienced the first-hand trauma and stress of buying and selling hundreds of homes. By providing customers a positive experience, we’ll cathartically overcome our past suffering. The other reason we’ve engrained a customer-first approach is simple. The only way our mission will succeed is by rallying mass scale support across the entire community.
How apropos that the blueprint of our country’s revolution was written right here in Philadelphia? We’re ready and energized for the fight ahead, and we’re completely confident that you and every other home buyer and seller will rise to the occasion with us. We wouldn’t commit our livelihoods to this mission if we didn’t believe wholeheartedly in it.
So after we landed on our Mission statement, we wrote down and each signed in blood (okay maybe not) our declaration of operating principles. The Houwzer Manifesto:
Purchasing a home is the single largest investment most of us will ever make. It’s“better to give than to receive,” and if we can give you thousands of dollars in savings or play a role in finding your dream home, we are fulfilled! At the end of the day, we exist to make a positive contribution to our city and to our country and can think of no better way than by fulfilling your dream home.
We aren’t here to provide just the lowest cost brokerage service. We strive to provide the most credible brokerage service (which means cutting the cost of selling and buying a home approximately in half) AND providing the very best service and experience you’ve ever had. Buying and selling a home should be exciting and rewarding, not scary and arduous.
“An educated customer is our best customer.” We endeavor to give you the real-state of real estate. The truth about what goes on behind-the-scenes, how the business makes money, and how it protects legacy practices. We’ll curate great articles, tips, and insights from others (no reason to reinvent the wheel) and provide helpful videos with straight talk from us to you.
These are our six guideposts for how we measure success and evaluate everyone involved with Houwzer, from our management team to our agents to our partners. We only hire and work with people with a reputation of high personal integrity and a track record of professional excellence.
We are blunt and candid about our path to success. We cannot and will not succeed without your help. In exchange for saving you thousands of dollars and providing a positive experience, we ask for your “social currency”– active referrals with friends, family, and colleagues, testimonials, and social media shout-outs.
And so it begins. A “Real Estate Revolution” right here in Philadelphia. We hope you will connect with us and help us change real estate brokerage for good.
To make one last analogous point, I’ll close with a uniquely brave and humorous remark that only Benjamin Franklin (my personal hero) could conjure at the signing of theDeclaration of Independence.
“We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”
