We’re Making Waves in Cape May

We’re Making Waves in Cape May

Posted on May 22, 2024

We are thrilled to officially announce our launch in Cape May County, New Jersey!

The shore towns represent a unique market that we were only willing to enter if we could do it right. We waited until we were fully equipped before diving into Cape May County.

So Why Now?

With deep roots throughout New Jersey, expanding to Cape May County was always seen as a natural step.

CEO Mike Maher, a Cape May County native, wanted to ensure the right team and resources were in play before officially launching in an area that means so much to his family.

Through a combination of recent sales in the area and a fellow NJ native, Trish Gesswein as our broker of record—it became clear that now is the time. Houwzer is now prepared to provide the shore with the same high-quality service that residents of the Philadelphia region have come to know and love.

Recent Cape May Sales & Savings

Houwzer has already helped several homeowners in the Cape May area sell for top dollar while saving thousands on real estate commission fees.

Listing story: One of Stone Harbor’s most exclusive properties, this personal oasis could barely hit the market before receiving an offer that was not only above the asking price — it blew away market comparables.

Listed on a Wednesday, this seaside gem was already under contract by Friday of that same week. The new owner will look forward to beach proximity and numerous amenities on the property, while the seller can relax knowing they saved over $150,000 in commissions.

Listing story: Trish sold this condo in the desirable Tides at Seaboard Point community earlier this year. Even during the off-season, Seaboard Circle had a lot of interest generated—proving that the Cape May area was ready for the fair-priced, full-service experience that Houwzer provides.

Stone Harbor Blvd, Cape May Court House – $2,150,000

Under Contract

Listing story: This stunning new construction home was listed at the end of 2023—a season that is typically very slow in real estate. With Trish’s guidance and work ethic, the home was only on the market for 17 days before accepting a very strong offer. Once construction is completed and the home is closed, the new owners will be able to enjoy breathtaking sunrise to sunset views along the bay.

Why Do People Love Cape May County?

This unique Victorian seaside area offers the perfect mix of historic charm and natural beauty. Located in Lower Township, the famous Cape May Lighthouse has become a well-known tourist destination. About a mile away from the lighthouse is beautiful Sunset Beach, where visitors can watch the sunset over the ocean—an extremely rare sight on the East Coast.

Compared to other shore towns, Cape May enjoys a more laid-back, family-friendly feel. Start your day at the acclaimed brunch spot Mad Batter (a play on the Mad Hatter) or grab a coffee to go at Coffee Tyme. Take advantage of the warmer weather by relaxing at the beach or seek a bit more share on a visit to the Cape May Zoo. You can even find entertainment in wandering the beautiful streets—a scenic enough setting that the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “Completely Unknown” has been filming locally.

Aside from year-round staples, Cape May also hosts a number of unique events. The Cape May Music Festival draws well-seasoned musicians to venues throughout the town, while Cape May Restaurant Week showcases local culinary talents. This tip of NJ is also a birdwatcher’s paradise—enough that it’s home to the World Series of Birding each year.

Cape May County also benefits from its other well-known shore destinations. One of the most popular and beloved areas is bustling Wildwood, known for its free beaches and lively boardwalk. Stone Harbor and Avalon (known locally as Seven Mile Island) have a more intimate feel than Wildwood and offer more high-end shopping and nightlife options.

If you’re feeling lucky, Atlantic City is an easy day trip in bordering Atlantic County. You can also enjoy a peaceful ride on the Cape May-Lewes ferry—whether you want to explore Delaware or simply soak in the views.

Houwzer is excited to become part of the fabric of Cape May and help local residents save money while delivering a premium real estate experience.
